Dr Mark SmithFull time partner – MB ChB (Bristol 1986) MRCGP
Dr Smith qualified from Bristol in 1986 and served with the British army till 1994 when he joined Blackbrook Surgery. He has worked as a Police Surgeon and continues to do out of hours GP shifts. His interests include GP training prescribing, and musculoskeletal medicine including joint injections. He enjoys cycling and yoga.
Dr Timothy NorburyPartner – MBBS, BSc, PhD, DIC, DRCOG, MRCGP
After finishing my training in London I moved to Somerset in 2007, working as a GP Partner since 2012. I have 3 children to help keep me busy, but any spare time is spent doing photography. I am the Doctor for Taunton Town Football club and also their official photographer, so you can find me crouched on the sidelines most weekends and my photos in the Gazette.
Dr Carola SteidlPartner – MRCGP DRCOG DRCPCH
Dr Steidl graduated at TU University in Munich in 1992 and worked for some years in gynaecology and obstetrics before qualifying as a GP in Somerset in 2001. She joined Blackbrook Surgery in April 2014. She enjoys being a family doctor, training students and trainee GPs and offers family planning clinics. In her spare time she likes fundraising, walking her rescue dogs and horse-riding.
Dr Christian HornungPartner – Staatsexamen (HEIDELBERG 2004) PHD MRCGP
Dr Christian trained at Heidelberg University, Germany and worked as a GP in Somerset before taking over a GP surgery on a Hebridean Island in 2011. He joined Blackbrook Surgery on 1st October 2015 and combines being a partner at Blackbrook Surgery for 3.5 days per week with working in A&E at Musgrove Park Hospital. His other work interests include Minor Surgery & Business Development. He is married with 4 young children and enjoys seeing his children getting closer to beating him in racket sports.
Dr Will HarrisPartner – MA Cantab MBBS nMRCGP
Dr Harris qualified as a doctor in 2001 then spent several years working in hospital, mainly in Accident and Emergency, Anaesthetics and Intensive Care. He completed his GP training in Cornwall in 2011. He and his wife moved to Somerset shortly after this in time of their two boys to start school.
Dr Harris has experience of working in healthcare leadership, management and commissioning and an interest in minor operations and procedures. He became a full time partner at Taunton Vale Healthcare in 2020.
As a training practice, we also have trainee GP Registrars working with us throughout the year.
