Self Referral

Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Swish

Somerset-Wide Integrated Sexual Health Service. Swish offer free confidential testing and treatment for all sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, and offer a full range of contraception. They are open to all ages including under 16's.

Talking Therapies – Somerset IAPT Service

Somerset Talking Therapies is an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service. We offer emotional and psychological support to anyone – aged over 18 and registered with a Somerset GP – who is feeling anxious or depressed. You can refer yourself directly here via the website.

Maternity Care

The first thing to do when you find yourself pregnant is to complete an online self-referral form.Your referral is received immediately via the maternity admin team for processing. A midwife will contact you within two weeks to arrange your first booking appointment, which will be between 8-10 weeks of pregnancy.

Eye Care

ACES is a free service available to all patients registered with a Somerset GP. The service is designed for the assessment and treatment of recently occurring medical eye conditions.

Somerset Drug & Alcohol Services
